A recent study conducted by The Thompson Reuters Foundation has found that South Africa comes third in Africa after Egypt and Nigeria as the best place to be a social entrepreneur. As we celebrate Youth Month, today we put the spotlight on youth unemployment in South Africa and the possible solutions. According to Stats SA, four out of 10 young people do not have a job. President Cyril Ramaphosa has called the high unemployment rate among the youth, a national crisis. Could social entrepreneurship offer a solution? The Weekend View looks at violence in schools

The 19-year-old Forest High School learner, accused of murder and attempted murder will spend the weekend in jail. The learner from the Turffontein school in the south of Johannesbur stabbed a fellow learner to death. Judgement on his bail application will only be handed down on Monday at the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court. The Grade 11 learner is alleged to have stabbed three fellow learners - killing one of them. He then fled the scene and police later arrested him in Dobsonville, Soweto. He is facing one count of murder and two of attempted murder. So Child Protection week in South Africa is coming to a close. Considering the violence meted out to children can make you numb. This stat is just incredible - 99% of children in South Africa had experienced or witnessed some form of violence. Not all have experienced abuse but an inordinate amount have.
