15 Mar Durban beaches remain closed after massive waves lash promenade

Lotus FM — SABC News and Current Affairs — Lotus FM — SABC News and Current Affairs — Lotus FM — SABC News and Current Affairs — The aftermath of a cyclone over Madagascar and springtide combined to produce waves of up to 4 or 5 metres that battered Durban beaches at the weekend, causing damage worth millions of rand. 3 people were injured while they were apparently capturing images of the waves sweeping inland. The eThekwini municipality has banned bathing at all beaches in the metro and is monitoring the situation together with the KwaZulu-Natal disaster management team.
