7 Aug ANC condemns Manana attack on women
The ANC says law enforcement officers must act without fear or favour when conducting their investigation into allegations against the Deputy Minister of Education, Mduduzi Manana, who is accused of assaulting two women at a night club in Fourways, Johannesburg over the weekend. The ANC says the allegations against Manana are concerning and that violence against women should not be tolerated. Manana is said to have attacked the women following a heated debate about the ANC's succession plan as well as gay comments that were made. In a recorded conversation between the brother of one of the women and Manana, the deputy minister is heard admitting that he did beat up the women. We spoke to ANC spokesperson Khusela Sangoni as well as Vuyo Mhaga from the Police Ministry.
