30 Oct Long-awaited Fees Commission Report looms but is fee free tertiary education possible

The Universities of the Free State, Cape Town and the Cape Peninsula University of Technology have been hit by sporadic protests this past week. In the Free State, students on both the Bloemfontein and Qwaqwa campuses embarked on a protest to say NO to fee increases. At the Cape Peninsula University of Technology's Bellville and Cape Town campuses, students have been protesting for the past three months, reportedly demanding an end to financial exclusions. Students at UCT are demanding the release of the long-awaited Fees Commission Report on the feasibility of free higher education.
