Consul-General of India in Durban home ransacked by 8 armed robbers - 5 year old son traumatized

by Newsbreak Producer, Matthew Veeran - Police investigations are underway after EIGHT armed robbers allegedly ransacked the home of the Consul-General of India, Durban - Dr Shashank Vikram. At 4pm yesterday, the doors of the Indian diplomat's Berea residence were allegedly broken down as criminals invaded the home in broad daylight. The armed men then went on to sift through the valuables of the house and allegedly held Dr. Vikram's five-year-old son hostage. Dr Vikram assumed the post of Consul-General of India in Durban on the 18th of October 2016 and has been living in the country for just over a year. Speaking after the incident, Dr Vikram confirmed that his family are thankfully safe, but he declined an interview at this stage. KwaZulu-Natal Police Spokesperson - Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane says a specialised team are working around the clock to track down the suspects.........
