- 1992 - The Chicago Blackhawks traded goalie Dominik Hasek to the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for goalie Stephane Beauregard and a fourth round draft choice in 1993 (Eric Daze)
- 1999 - Wade Boggs gets hit 3,000, the FIRST MLB player to do it with a home run
- 2007 - Barry Bonds hits his 756th home run to pass Hank Aaron for most all time
- 2008 - The Green Bay Packers trade QB Brett Favre to the New York Jets
- 2016 - Ichiro Suzuki gets his 3,000th hit
- 2016 - Michael Phelps gets his 19th career Olympic Gold Medal in the 4x100 metre freestyle relay, setting the record
