Author, academic and political commentator, Dr Ebrahim Harvey warns in his second book that South Africa is where we are from a socio-economic perspective due to divorcing capitalism from the race and class debate. This is the running theme in Harvey’s second albeit scathing book of the current administration titled The Great Pretenders Race and Class under ANC rule. He says in his interview on the OFM Business Hour that this failure is what has led to economic policies that perpetuate poverty and inequality as opposed to dismantling it. He cites the Marikana massacre and the Fees Must Fall movements that inspired the book.
