The department of home affairs has continued to come under criticism for the discrimination of non-binary people, especially transgender people. This is in relation to the process of changing one's legal markers, including name and gender, on various legal documentation. This is the unfortunate reality of a Johannesburg pupil who has had to put many life events on hold due to not being able to get her new legal documents and certificates.
