“Have to choose your hard.” A statement made by
Farayi Mangwende during our conversation when I
asked her why she has not emigrated from Zimbabwe
like millions of professionals have done to make a
better life for themselves in other countries because
of the prolonged political and economic crisis in their
country.

Farayi’s detested cross country running when she
was at school. Her father shared wisdom, “How can
you be beaten by something that doesn’t talk.” That
got me thinking about how I want to Live in 2023.

Farayi Mangwende is Group Marketing & Strategy
Executive in First Mutual Holdings Ltd in
#Zimbabwe. She holds a Master’s degree in Public
Communication and Public Relations from the
University of Westminster in the United Kingdom. I
first met Farayi in 2010 in the US when we were

nominated as thirty-five emerging #women #leaders
from various parts of the world to participate in the
Fortune / US State Department Global Women
Mentoring Programme where we were matched with
women #CEOs and Executive #Leaders of
#Fortune500 companies to be our #mentors over a
four-week period.

“What is your hard in this life? How are you
approaching it in 2023?”

Wishing you a resourceful, rewarding and a
Significant 2023 in all the ways that matter to you.
