Absa PMI sinks deeper into contraction territory in May

The Absa PMI edging down to 49.2 in May from 49.8 the previous month indicates a like slight dip, but it means that the index is slowly sinking deeper into contractionary territory. This is due to a notable trend in the deterioration of business conditions over the last four months. The power outages experienced in May were similar to that of April and therefore business activity itself remained unchanged during the period.
