The Limpopo Health department together with the South African Medical Association Trade Union in Limpopo have condemned an incident that recently took place at Musina hospital whereby a doctor was assaulted by a civilian. Both the department and SAMATU have raised concerns on the safety of health care professionals saying that communities have to understand that the safety of health workers is in their hands and that attacking the very professionals will only affect them(patients) as and when they require medical attention. Nghamula Chauke spoke to spokesperson of Health in Limpopo Neil Shikwambana and SAMATU NEC member Dr Nkateko Mnisi and this is what they had to say:
