As South Africa marks Youth Month and reflects on nearly 50 years since the Soweto Uprising of 1976, we turn our attention to the enduring legacy of the young people who stood up against an unjust education system and helped change the course of the country's history. Joining us is a representative from the June 16 Development Foundation, an organization committed to preserving the memory, values, and lessons of the 1976 generation. Today, we'll explore what that legacy means for young South Africans in 2026, how the freedoms won through that struggle can be used meaningfully, and why the story of June 16 remains as relevant today as it was five decades ago.
