Dr Dusty Donnelly
Is an admitted advocate of the High Court of South Africa and a law
academic at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. She is the Director of the
Unit of Maritime Law and Maritime Studies and specialises in the
regulation of artificial intelligence, data protection, cybersecurity, and
emerging technologies. Dr Donnelly previously served as a co-investigator
on a United States National Institutes of Health-funded project exploring AI
and data science in Africa. Her current research examines the legal and
ethical implications of AI across sectors, including healthcare, making her
well placed to discuss intellectual property, innovation, and the future of
health technologies.
