Eight suspects have been arrested in connection with an alleged cash for driver’s licence scheme at the Marble Hall Driver’s Licence Testing Centre in Ephraim Mogale Municipality, Limpopo.
The suspects appeared before the Groblersdal Magistrate’s Court on 14 September 2026 and face charges of fraud and corruption. They will remain in custody until 21 September, when they are expected to apply for bail and undergo verification of records.
The arrests followed a joint operation involving the Special Investigating Unit, SAPS Crime Intelligence and the Sekhukhune District Tactical Team.
The arrests come as newly appointed Limpopo MEC for Transport and Community Safety Nakedi Kekana signals a tougher approach to corruption at driver’s licence testing centres across the province. The MEC says clean-up operations at licensing centres will be intensified and that officials found guilty of corruption will face both criminal prosecution and internal disciplinary action.
The department is also warning that driving schools allegedly acting as intermediaries in corrupt licensing schemes will be targeted.
