we look at Youth unemployment, which remains one of South Africa’s most pressing challenges, with many young people struggling to find work, gain workplace experience and access opportunities to develop their skills. For some, even completing a university degree or a college qualification does not guarantee employment, while others face additional barriers because they lack access to career guidance, professional networks and training opportunities. In response to these challenges, the government introduced the Presidential Youth Employment Intervention, which aims to help young people move from learning to earning by connecting them to employment opportunities, skills development, workplace experience and other income-generating activities. Through initiatives such as SA Youth.mobi and partnerships with different organisations, the intervention seeks to create pathways that help young people participate in the economy.
