Feature: Water shortage on municipality level

South Africa suffered its driest year on record last year, the SA Weather Service announced last week, as the drought showed no sign of abating. Average rainfall was 403mm, about a third less than the 608mm annual average and the driest since records were kept in 1904. This month, thousands of litres have been delivered to drought-stricken Free State towns to assist residents who have been struggling to live without water.
