A young woman who grew up in Zeerust and Rustenberg and immigrated to the UK when she was nine, has made world history. Lizanne van Vuuren was part of an all-women rowing team, who have just completed an epic sea journey. After a gruelling battle with the elements, the Coxless Crew made history as the first all-women crew to cross the South Pacific Ocean. The journey started in San Francisco last April and they landed in Cairns early yesterday morning. Van Vuuren says the six women rowed in teams and usually slept for 90 minutes at a time.
