Delaying new tax law amendments not a win for workers: Cosatu

Trade union federation Cosatu says government merely delaying the implementation of the new tax law amendments is nowhere near a win for the workers.

Cabinet yesterday announced it would table legislation that would postpone the implementation of the new laws by two years.

The laws - signed by President Jacob Zuma last month - would allow retirees to only withdraw a portion of their pension, with the rest to be placed in retirement annuities.

Cosatu spokesperson Sizwe Pamla says with the laws not completely scrapped, there is still a problem.
