Madonsela confirms requests to investigate Zuma over Guptagate

The Public Protector has confirmed receiving requests to investigate the alleged involvement of the Gupta family in state affairs and the awarding of contracts to their companies.

One request came from the Democratic Alliance, with the other coming from the Dominican Order, a group of Catholic priests and brothers in Southern Africa.

This followed this week's revelation by Deputy Finance Minister, Mcebisi Jonas, that the Guptas had offered him the Finance Minister's job before Nhlanhla Nene was sacked last December. Further revelations about Gupta job offers were also made by former ANC MP, Vytjie Mentor.

Public Protector, Thuli Madonsela's spokesperson, Oupa Segalwe, outlines what will happen next.
