Calls for President Jacob Zuma to step down were not discussed during the ANC's National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting this weekend.

The party's Secretary General, Gwede Mantashe addressed media last night after the meeting concluded.

Maryke Vermaak reports that the question was put to Mantashe after a week in which Zuma's credibility and the State's independence were called into question as officials came forward with information about the Gupta family's influence on the state.
