Holidaymakers must abide by KZN Public Nuisance bylaw

Holidaymakers visiting KwaZulu-Natal over the Easter period are being urged to abide by the recently introduced Public Nuisance bylaw.

It came into effect nearly two weeks ago and prohibits residents and visitors to Durban and its surrounds from behaving badly in public spaces. This includes littering and noise.

Those who don't comply could face fines of up to R40 000 or prison time.

eThekwini's Sibonelo Mchunu says this weekend alone 135 summonses were issued to people drinking in public.

Mchunu says they will be out in full force again this coming Easter weekend.
