Mother and child killed in alleged hit-and-run near Potchefstroom

A mother and her child, believed to be about three-years-old, were killed in an alleged hit-and-run on the Viljoenskroon road outside Potchefstroom last night. ER24 spokesperson, Werner Vermaak, says it is alleged the deceased crossed the road when a large vehicle, believed to be a truck, hit them and drove away.

Vermaak says the sex of the child could not be established due to the nature of the injuries the deceased sustained in the accident. The police investigation continues.
