The world is commemorating International Vaccination Day today (Tuesday) as the African continent celebrates the African Vaccination Week. African Vaccination Week is an initiative of the Members States of the African Region aimed at promoting vaccination and ensuring equity and access to benefits. The initiative has proven to be particularly effective in reaching populations within limited access to regular health services, as well as providing an opportunity to integrate other interventions with immunization.
