Members of the Mangaung Fire and Rescue Service will today return to the warehouse in Bloemfontein's central business district that was ravaged by fire yesterday.
Braam van Zyl says they will finally extinguish the blaze, which is still smouldering, and assess the damage caused when the five storey building, in which cosmetics, groceries and soft drinks were stored, went up in flames.
Free State police are investigating the cause of the fire. Spokesperson, Chaka Marope, says the building, in St George's street, took flame in the early hours of yesterday morning. He said the fire started at about 01:30 and burnt for most of the day. Nobody was injured.
Firefighters continued with damping down operations until late into the afternoon. Neighbouring flats were evacuated by emergency workers as a precaution.
The building is owned by Bloemfontein businessman, Savvas Kyriacou.
