Sparks are expected to fly today as the ANC's top six officials meet amid the furore over the axing of finance minister Pravin Gordhan and his deputy Mcebisi Jonas. At least three of the top six, deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa, ANC Secretary General, Gwede Mantashe, and Treasurer General, Zweli Mkhize, have openly voiced their disapproval at Zuma's Cabinet reshuffle. ANC chair and National Assembly Speaker Baleka Mbete yesterday briefed the media after cutting short her work visit to Bangladesh to address requests to urgently convene a sitting to process yet another proposal for a motion of no confidence in Zuma.
She said she will start consultations on the matter tomorrow and will give feedback to the DA and EFF, who have called for the motion, as soon as possible.
