Cosatu condemns May Day events in BFN

Cosatu president, Sdumo Dlamini says the cancellation of the trade union federation's May Day rally in Bloemfontein yesterday, after President Jacob Zuma was heckled and booed, calls for urgent attention.

Zuma, who was meant to deliver the keynote address, left without addressing the crowd at Loch Logan Park after members chanted Zuma Must Fall. Scuffles broke out between those in support of and against the president. Cosatu later cancelled all political speeches.

Dlamini says the incident is a clear indication that leaders in the country need to reflect on where they have gone wrong and discuss the way forward. He says the events that unfolded yesterday are not individual issues, but an indication of underlying revolutionary challenges that need to be ironed out.
