Various roleplayers involved in honey bee farming have agreed to a Charter to help educate interested parties in the use of pesticides. AgriSA’s Christo van der Rheede says the Bee Pollinator Charter was agreed to and signed by the different stakeholders during Grain SA’s Nampo Harvest Day trade exhibition near Bothaville this week. Van der Rheede says the objectives of the Charter are to educate farmers and others on the responsible use of pesticides. He says there is huge pressure on farmers and pesticide manufacturing companies to ensure that pesticides are used correctly. Van Der Rheede says honey bee owners have lost many colonies due to the incorrect and irresponsible use of pesticides.
