BFN City Hall fire: Municipality backtracked on agreement with Samwu

The DA in the Free State says Bloemfontein's historic City Hall was burned to the ground after the Mayor of the Mangaung Metro, Olly Mlamleli, backtracked on an agreement the workers had reached with her on Tuesday.

Tjaart van der Walt, DA Ward Councillor in Mangaung, told OFM News at City Hall last night that the municipality backtracked on a previous agreement reached with striking Mangaung Metro workers.

Samwu's provincial chairperson, Congo Matshepe, denied that their members were responsible for the fire. He told OFM News Samwu members were outside the hall when the fire started. Mangaung Metro Municipality spokesperson,Qondile Khedama on Wednesday night said he could not comment on the matter.
