Your gynae/obstetrician is paying nearly R1million annually for medical risk insurance and most cannot survive. In smaller towns there are no private obstetricians left. The end result is that you will be forced to have your baby delivered at a state hospital in future. Therein lies the rub... of the billions of medical malpractice claims against the Department of Health, 70% are in the field of obstetrics (baby delivery disasters). In studio with Garry is attorney Steven Flowers - medical malpractice specialist, and actuary Greg Whittaker - a quantum of damages specialist.
