NC Hawks Captain to appear in court

Springbok - A member of the Hawks in the Northern Cape is set to appear in the Springbok Magistrates Court, on the 18th of October on charges of fraud and money-laundering. According to Hawks national spokesperson Hangwani Mulaudzi, 50-year-old Stefanus Van Rooi was arrested on Thursday in Springbok for allegedly claiming money unlawfully for a cancelled work trip to Prieska.

Van Rooi appeared in the local Magistrate’s court later on Thursday and was subsequently released on R 1500 bail. Mulaudzi goes on to say that the Hawks is focusing on weeding out criminal activity in the unit. This after a commander of the Hawks Serious Anti-Corruption Unit in Mpumalanga was arrested on Monday for theft. - Olebogeng Motse
