The MidVaal local municipality council in the Sedibeng district has resolved that its deputy municipal manager Albert de Kok should face a disciplinary process, as per recommendations of an independent investigation. This decision was taken yesterday by the municipal council, and follows allegations of corruption relating to irregular and undue recruitment process by De Kok. In a statement released by the municipality today, it says De Kok had previously been given until the 6th of March to provide written representation as to why he should not be placed under suspension, which he failed to do. Kagiso Korae, MidVaal municipal communication officer, says the municipality views the aforementioned allegations in a serious light, and will ensure due process is followed in a fair and transparent manner.
