Striking taxi operators shut down Ladysmith rank

Police are on high alert at the Ladysmith taxi rank due to strike action. Commuters were left stranded, with no taxis in operation on Wednesday. The South Africa National Taxi Council (SANTACO) spokesperson Sifiso Shangase says some of their members have been sent to Ladysmith to try to to restore calm to the area.
