On this week’s edition of People of Note, Rodney Trudgeon’s guest will be Advocate Deon Irish, who, apart from his work as Senior Council, is the Titular Organist and Choirmaster at St Micheal’s Church in Observatory, a post he has held since 1972. Deon has contributed substantially to the community in South Africa as an organ teacher, a mentor for young choral conductors, an opera and music critic as well as through his financial and legal work for the Diocese of Cape Town. And now Dean has just been made an Associate of the Royal School Of Church Music in recognition of his contribution to church music in South Africa.
