The impact of the new WhatsApp privacy policy on users and businesses.

Most online applications have terms and privacy policy required by regulation to protect the personal information and usage data of users. Communication apps liked WhatsApp are particularly popular because they are free and efficient to use. However, the reality is that in order for these apps to be free and efficient, user information has to be collected.

WhatsApp published a new privacy policy in Jabuary 2021 which details updates on the terms related to collection of user information. The changes are more explicit and elaborate explanations of how personal information will be collected, stored and used and this has sparked debate around privacy and resulted into increased popularity of other communication applications.

Harvey T hosts Kevin Ssemwogerere who is a Chartered Accountant and Digital Innovator on the AreaCode show, to hear his independent Tech Business Insights. Kevin discusses the impact of the new WhatsApp privacy policy on users and businesses.
