The Bigger Picture is a media company focused on global news and analysis through an African and South African lens. After years of watching politics and power up close - in different countries, different systems, and different moments of crisis - we’ve seen how easily power can warp, or simply lose touch with reality. We believe journalism has a responsibility: to hold leaders accountable and to push back when the powerful expect silence. Our moral compass is simple: democracy, human rights, and freedom of the media. Those are the principles that guide what we cover and how we cover it.
We look at global politics, business, health, and nature conservation, because all of them shape the world we live in. But we’re not only here for the hard edges.
