AccidentalMuslims.com Show

1 EPISODES | ACCIDENTALMUSLIMS.COM |  Podcast
AccidentalMuslims.com is a movement or platform whereby we showcase leaders (current & future), in their field or career or life in general, to inspire us to live with purpose. And we just happened to be Muslims [People who submit to One God :)]

Coming from a family where most of us were born Muslim – there is this perception that we were Muslims by “accident” or by chance – This platform is here to remind you to live with intentionality, to have this drive to actualize your true potential in this life and to ultimately live with purpose (with faith).

We are living in a world full of negativity, sadness, war, racism and corruption. Our youth are bombarded with negative and unproductive media. How about an alternative? How about showing the world that Muslims are not that bad… we not evil, terrorists and we can harmoniously integrate with society. We actually quite normal like everyone else.
Noted psychiatrist and author George Vaillant recently wrote that the absence of faith is nihilism, not atheism. Faith means believing in something. Without faith of some kind, it isn’t possible to have a sense of meaning, direction, or purpose in life.

Without faith, it wouldn’t make sense to expect (or keep) commitments. Some say that, without faith, even science is impossible since science depends on a basic faith that ‘things lie together in a harmony which excludes mere arbitrariness.’

African Roots

DW's history project "African Roots" addresses young Africans

DW's new series "African Roots" uses online comics and radio broadcasts to highlight 25 important African personalities. The project, funded by the Gerda Henkel Foundation, is aimed at young audiences.
The portraits cover a long period of time, ranging from Dinknesh, the "Mother of Mankind" in present-day Ethiopia, to legendary rulers of the Middle Ages such as Mali's King Sunjata Keita to key figures from the African independence movement such as Patrice Lumumba.

These animated online stories by the successful Nigerian graphic design team "Comic Republic," will primarily be shared on Facebook once a week. DW’s Facebook platforms for Africa have more than four million subscribers. There will also be broadcasts of supporting content on radio, reaching nearly 40 million African listeners per week. Most of the content is available in six languages (English, Amharic, Hausa, Kiswahili, French, Portuguese).

DW users have raised concerns saying that public discourse on African history is often based solely on the perspective of the continent's former colonial powers. One commented on Facebook that "young Africans don't have easy access to historical documentation." "African Roots" hopes to help close this gap. The project, spearheaded by DW's Africa service, employs African sources, and was developed in collaboration with African historians, cultural scientists and writers. It targets Africa's young generation, which makes up the vast majority of the population on the continent.

TAS study guides are comprehensive and easy to use. They are written – and frequently updated – by teachers, examiners and subject specialists. The Answer Series is – and has always been – a family-run business. Our purpose with The Answer Series is to impart the gift of confidence.

TAS has just launched, it’s second podcast series named: Around the Table with CEO George Eadie.

Our intent with this podcast is to go on a journey to deepen our understanding of the education system in South Africa. In each episode we will talk all things education, innovation and inspiration with 8 brilliant guests from around the country and further afield.

TAS has contributed to improved SA education outcomes since 1975, however, this podcast series is an expression of TAS’ intent to continue learning. George has the beautiful responsibility to lead TAS into its next generation. We knew that education was on the cusp of significant change pre-Covid. The pandemic has served as a great accelerant and as a catalyst for adaptation.

What we already know is that improving education in SA requires a team effort. We would like to invite anyone who is passionate about affecting positive change in Education to join us on this learning journey. Let’s work together to fuel the spirit of education in South Africa.
