Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) reported on June 1 that employment in South Africa declined by 28,000 jobs in the first quarter of 2021. The data indicated that after the country lost 2.2 million jobs in 2020Q2 and regained 876,000 of these during the second half of the year, job growth stalled in 2021Q1.
