There was an awesome announcement made last week particularly for triathletes that are based in Gauteng. Races are few and far between and decent venues for races are even scarcer. This week on Tri Talk SA we chat to Grant Kuneke from Tri Rock South Africa about the brand new race that they have added to the South African triathlon calendar, Tri Rock Cradle of Humankind. It is a half Ironman distance tri that will take place in the heart of the World Heritage Site that is the Cradle of Human Kind. Consisting of a 1.9km swim, 90km cycle and a 21.1km run the first Tri Rock Cradle of Humankind takes place on 15 February 2015.Listen to this week’s show to find out some of the challenged Grant has had to overcome to get the race on the calendar, including having to build a road as well as what you can expect if you race the event next year.We also spoke about the upcoming 2014 Tri Rock Durban. If you want to find out more or to enter the race you can visit their website here.
