COVID left South African pupils far behind in maths and language skills

In 2020 and 2021, learners across South Africa missed at least a quarter of a school year due to COVID-related lockdowns and rotational timetabling. A group of researchers from both Stellenbosch and UCT conducted a study that looked at the gaps in development that were picked up on due to the covid period and the rotational timetable.
Jaamia Galant, Researcher at the University of Cape Town, joins us on the line to speak to us about this study and it’s findings.
