The hosts, who are second from the bottom on the Premiership table, led that match 13-6 at half time.
Gabriel Ibitoye and Yann Thomas each scored tries for the Bears, while Callum Sheedy converted both tries and slotted four penalties.
Ntuthuko Mchunu and Sikhumbuzo Notshe scored for the South Africa second-stringers, while Johan Goosen landed a conversion and Sacha Mngomezulu converted two penalties.
