Tshwane says it’s in no position to pay salary hikes

SAWMU Deputy General Secretary, Nkhetheni Muthavhi speaks to Phemelo about their call for the City of Tshwane to implement the SA Local Government Bargaining Council’s decision to compel the city to pay a 5.5% salary increase that was promised to SAMWU workers in 2021. City of Tshwane Finance MMC, Peter Sutton tells Phemelo that the city intends on challenging the bargaining council’s decision adding that they don’t have money to pay for the salary hikes.
