One suspect was caught while trying to flee the scene bringing a total to 7 illegal
miners arrested. According to the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department Rapid Tactical
Response Unit the suspects opened fire when they saw police approaching the
scrapyard. EMPD SPokesperson, Kelebogile Thepa and a resident who witnessed this react .
