Masemola visits Sabie, Stilfontein as bodies of zama zamas pile up

More than 50 000 illegal miners have been arrested in different provinces since the establishment of Operation Vala Umgodi a year ago. National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola led a delegation to the Sabie, Mpumalanga and Stillfontein Mine in the North West. Various police units and private security company personnel are currently retrieving over 100 illegal miners underground in Sabie, while at least 7 bodies of illegal miners have been retrieved in Stilfontein while at least 15 have resurfaced.
