Hopes for a Gaza ceasefire deal is fading fast. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is now leaning toward expanding the military campaign, saying the only way to free remaining hostages is by defeating Hamas. But Hamas is holding firm, demanding urgent humanitarian aid before returning to talks. Israeli officials say aid might be allowed into certain areas, but only where Hamas isn’t in control. Meanwhile, the U.S. position remains unclear, with Trump’s Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, yet to publicly weigh in.
