For days, communities across Coronationville, Westbury, Sophiatown, and Newclare have been grappling with crippling water shortages - unable to cook, clean, bathe, or wash. By early September, their frustration boiled over. Protests on the 10th and 11th saw roads blocked, tyres burnt, and clashes with police, a stark reflection of desperation in communities brought to the brink. In a conversation with Phemelo, Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero responds to the crisis, assuring residents that help is on the way.
