IN CONVERSATION WITH KAYE ALLY'S

Over 35 years, Johannesburg Pride has evolved from a protest march into a pan-African cultural and advocacy movement. Under Pride of Africa, we have expanded into a month-long programme of events—from the emPOWERment Summit to the Queer Met Gala—showing that our community's needs are multifaceted, encompassing celebration, dialogue, economic empowerment, and political advocacy.

The official support from the City of Johannesburg and the participation of Executive Mayor Dada Morero is a landmark moment. It signals a growing recognition of LGBTQ+ rights as human rights at a municipal level. Alongside our committed global and local sponsors, these partnerships are crucial for creating sustainable, safe, and impactful events that drive systemic change.
