Private rhino owners welcome draft regulations for horn trade

OFM News’ agri editor Sabrina Dean speaks to Pelham Jones, Chairperson of the Privte Rhino Owners’ Association. The disucssion deals with draft regulations on the domestic trade in rhino horn published this month by the Department of Environmental Affairs. Jones says they welcome this as they do not believe prohibition is doing anything to save rhinos. He says private rhino owners are spending about R400-million per year trying to protect their animals from poachers:
