Thank you for listening the TechCentral podcast. In this episode, Duncan McLeod chats to Andre Pillay, MD of the newly created Balwin Fibre.
Balwin Fibre is part of the listed Balwin Properties and is focused on delivering open-access fibre infrastructure to the company's many housing developments in Gauteng, Cape Town and Durban.
In the podcast, Pillay explains why Balwin decided to spin off a new business focused on fibre broadband and what the company's plans are.
He explains the company's roll-out plans, how it intends working with Internet service providers and why he believes there's a big opportunity to develop annuity income for Balwin through fibre.
Pillay talks about how Balwin Fibre will work with metropolitan fibre providers to connect its estates, the plans to use the fibre to offer Wi-Fi access to residents and the impact of fibre on property values. He also talks about Balwin's long-term plans for the business.
