Akani Simbine, made a huge statement by winning the mens’ 100m gold at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia in 10.03 seconds.

It was double podium for South Africa with Heinco Bruintjies taking silver in 10.17 seconds to upset the pre-race favourite, Yohan Blake, of Jamaica who had to settle for bronze.
