#083 African Storytelling is where it all began | Frans van der Colff

African history has been passed through generations through stories.

Frans van der Colff (African expert, Faculty and Fellow at Henley Business School)

If there is one thing we love in Africa, it's a good story next to a fireside. We don't have a crackling fire, but we have incredible stories of wisdom and history to share with you. You would be surprised to learn how many business principles are informed by the ancestors of Africa. Storytelling connects the human race and helps us to understand each other better. It's a pathway to healing. If there is one continent that's misunderstood, it's Africa. These stories must be heard.

In this story safari, Carmen Murray chats to Frans van der Colff, Lecturer and Fellow at Henley Business School about the power of African storytelling, and how the history of this continent is misunderstood.

Frans has a MSc in Strategic Management and is a PhD candidate. He started his retail career at Pick n Pay as a trainee manager and was the director for Africa and Emerging Markets when he left to join Foodlovers Markets as Head of the African Division. He currently has his own business that assists young entrepreneurs to start new businesses, companies to start a franchise division, companies with strategic development and leadership development, how to succeed on the African continent, and also facilitates at Henley Business School.

About your host:
